Implementation of Photometric Stereo with General, Unknown Lighting
نویسندگان
چکیده
This report discusses the implementation of the shape recovery in case of four harmonics as described in the paper titled Photometric Stereo with General, Unknown Lighting (Basri, Jacobs, Kemelmacher), 2006. The goal is to recover the harmonic images from a set of number of images of an object taken from the same viewpoint but with different illumination. These harmonic images are then used to infer the surface normal and albedos of the object being imaged. Keywords—photometric stereo; singular value decomposition(SVD); eigenvalue decomposition; albedo; surface normal; Lorentz transformation

The 4-Source Photometric Stereo Under General Unknown Lighting
Many previous works on photometric stereo have shown how to recover the shape and reflectance properties of an object using multiple images taken under a fixed viewpoint and variable lighting conditions. However, most of them only dealt with a single point light source in each image. In this paper, we show how to perform photometric stereo with four images which are taken under distant but gene...
متن کاملIncorporating the Torrance and Sparrow Model of Reflectance in Uncalibrated Photometric Stereo
Under the Lambertian reflectance model, uncalibrated photometric stereo with unknown light sources is inherently ambiguous. In this paper, we consider the use of a more general reflectance model, namely the Torrance and Sparrow model, in uncalibrated photometric stereo. We demonstrate that this can not only resolve the ambiguity when the light sources are unknown, but can also result in more ac...
متن کاملPhotometric Stereo for General Reflectance and Lighting in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Information Science and Technology
Understanding the 3D shape information is a fundamental problem in computer vision. Among various shape estimation technology, photometric stereo is highlighted for its ability to produce detailed surface normal direction at its image resolution. It takes a set of images captured under varying illumination and a fixed viewpoint as input. Traditional photometric stereo assumes the Lambertian ref...
متن کاملNear-lighting Photometric Stereo for unknown scene distance and medium attenuation
Photometric Stereo in murky water is subject to light attenuation and near-field illumination, and the resulting image formation model is complex. Apart from the scene normals and albedo, the incident illumination varies per-pixel and it depends on the scene depth and the attenuation coefficient of the medium. When these are unknown, e.g. in a realistic scenario where a robotic platform explore...
متن کاملPhotometric stereo without multiple images
Photometric Stereo (PMS) recovers orientation vectors from a set of graylevel images. Under orthography, when the lights are unknown, and for a single uniform Lambertian surface, one can recover surface normals up to an unknown overall orthogonal transformation. The same situation obtains if, instead of three graylevel images, one uses a single KGB image taken with at least three point or exten...
